Govt. Degree College Shopian, established In March, 1988, established college library in the same year to provide both teachers and students study material for teaching and learning. The college was housed in Boys Higher Secondary school, Shopian from 1988 to 2002 and then it was shifted to DIET (District Institute of Education and Trainings) Batapora Shopian where it served the community till 2007.At both these places the library was not in a better order and books were huddled together on small shelves.  In 2007, the college was shifted to its present and permanent location where library was housed in a room of two storied building till 2013.
